HO scale model of the Hotel Alexandra, built circa 1908, in Vonda, Saskatchewan. Much of the building still remains and is currently a bar, restaurant, and residence.
Parts are separated for easy painting or for printing in multiple colours.
Railings, railing posts, and columns are assembled from multiple parts to get crisp parts from FDM printing.
All parts are designed for 0.1mm layers and 0.2mm extruder.
Some parts have sprues for bed adhesion and to provide easier-to-remove support material than slicer-generated brims.
November 6, 2024: First test assembly shows that the parts will go together, but assembly is very fiddly. I'm working on new versions of the parts with thicker walls, butt joints at the corners rather than bevels, and separate L-shaped parts for the corner trim. If you are a very patient model builder, you can make the parts available today work -- see the test model in the photos -- but I want to make this easier to assemble.
August 27, 2024: All parts have been test printed and are confirmed to be printable.
I am still working on assembly, so the instructions here may change. I may also add some new parts, such as braces to stiffen the walls and supports for the roof panels.
August 31 2024: Updated porch_subframe.stl to add joists. Added porch_floor_and_frame_jig.stl to aid porch assembly.
