Summary

I designed this Thing to make it very easy to access the extruder of the Anet a8 Printer, when it got jammed. In addition, changing the filament is super easy, because you actually can see, if the material fits the hole.
In addition to the Anet A8, I build a version for the Tronxy printer too. In this version, the 11mm of the missing heatsink are taken into account.

UPDATE: I added a version 1.1
-> use a rubber band in order to get better contact to the heatsink (many people criticized the lack of cantact)

You will need:

-1x M4 metric screw (min 20mm) and nut(s), best solution would be a wingnut
-2x M3 metric screw (min 30mm) and nuts ==> Leftover from the Printer itself!
-2x M4 metric screw (max 18mm) to fasten the whole thing on the linear bearings (remove the upper two M4x8 screws)

  • to turn the cooler 90° and fasten it with matching cutting screws on the upper side
  • to drill the existing holes up to 6mm diameter (like on the picture)
  • to fasten the extruder motor with the stock screw, which you removed, when you bulit the printer. For the other hole, just take a standard leftover screw from the printer.

Enjoy the print and please report back, how this design improved or did not improve your prints :)

Disclaimer: I am NOT responsible for any damage, you might cause (for example when drilling in the heatsink!)

The original Sketchup files are included. Be free and make some changes, if you want :)
