This part was designed to replace a picture hanger and nail that my key hook hangs on. The hanger always pivoted when the weight wasn't balanced and was easy to knock off the nail. This design will fit snugly, fixing that issue.
The dovetail is tapered so that printer calibration is not critical it should still fit together either sitting a bit higher or lower depending on the size variation.
I designed the dovetail such that it can be printed laying flat or upright. Theoretically the strength should be superior if printed vertically. For best results if printing vertically, the female dovetail should have the small side of the taper on the print bed, and the male part the opposite. This way the raised edge that forms from the first layer won't cause interference.
I printed this part in PETG, though the detail would have been better in PLA and I'm sure PLA would be quite functional for indoor use.
