This is a birdhouse I designed for the Birdhouse challenge. It features a unique mounting system, utilizing 1" Schedule 40 PVC pipe. It can be inserted into the base, and sunk into the ground for a simple pole mount. Using elbows and different lenghts of pipe, you can mount multiple birdhouses in many configurations, and, using my Worktable filament spool part (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:54290) you can use a short length of PVC and mount this to a tree, the outer wall of a structure, fence post, or whatever you can drive screws into.
The design was inspired by the town of Griggsville, IL, with their massive Birdhouse complexes for the Purple Martins that flock there every year, and the look was styled after the dwellings in the animated series, "The Jetsons", as well as the Dymaxion Houses made from 1929 to the mid 40's.
I plan on making accessories for this, even if I don't win, such as bird baths, perches, seed bin, etc. and all will utilize the same 1" PVC connection.
