This is yet another version of a nanoleaf hexagon. This is a remix with some minor changes.
You can use either 30 or 60 LEDs per meter strips. I recommend that you use individually addressable LEDs and not the RGB strips.
I have tried both 30 and 60 LED per meter strips. The 30 per meter work perfectly. The 60 LED per meter strips are very bright but there are some neat looks you can get from them, just lower the brightness.
In the end I ended up just using WLED for control but still want to create something custom for more interesting effects.
There are no special settings needed to print. There is no need for support.
The original design included clips to connect the hexagons. I did not even include them because they do not work well. I just used hot glue to glue them together.
The bigger you make it the more it flexes so just make sure you support it well.
There is not a back component, you will have to make something. I ended up taking cardboard and cutting it to shape for a section of 5 or 6. I also put tin foil on the cardboard to help with the reflection of the light.
If you are using the version with the center cutout, those thin white paper plates make for a great diffuser. You just need to cut them out to fit inside.
I just attached some of the sticky hangers to the cardboard. You will have to experiment with what method works for you.
