The file 'Hexagon Magnet Toy 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 164.2KB.
Check out this really cool remix by eliram that takes the toy into vertical space!
As requested, there's now an STL of just the rings (with no center hex).
User speedie95 made a remix that uses 1/4" by 1/8" magnets. Find it here.
This Thing is suddenly very popular, with over 100 downloads in the last few hours. Just curious, can somebody comment where they saw it? I'm wondering how so many people are finding it today.
Mystery solved. Hi Redditors!
And all credit to THE-LAZY-ENGINEER for the original design. See link below.
My version of THE-LAZY-ENGINEER's Satisfying Hexagons toy.
It uses four 8x3mm magnets, which are easy to find online. Super-glue them into the centerpiece and the knob, and you're good to go! (NOTE: This is designed for you to print all of the moving hexagons at once, including the solid center hexagon with the magnets. However, if you encounter gluing problems and need to re-print just the center, there's a center hex only STL available).
As always, comment any questions or issues you have.
Happy printing!
