(Update 4/14/2017: Added a few more array shapes).
This is a hex tile building toy that I made for kicks. It still needs a bit of work but it has been fun to play with so I'm sharing it.
Printing these as single items is pretty easy, but printing the larger array prints will require a more challenging printer calibration and resolution. I suggest starting with groups of 4 items at a time and later work up to the array print - unless you are really confident in your printer's capabilities.
The HEX tiles easily click together, but as you start to connect tiles with 3 or more joints you will notice that things can get a little tricky and when you have fat fingers like me the parts can break (especially crumbly PLA) when connecting.
Next steps: I think that these will work great in PETG or ABS for my next iteration. Also a flex material would probably greatly increase the capabilities of this building thingy.
Let me know if any of you have tips for improvements or requests for modified versions to accommodate your buckyballs, armor, neck ties, evening gowns, or whatever.
Note also that this is a work in progress, I'll likely be tweaking the design for strength and flexibility in the future.
