Summary

A while ago I took apart a portable heater, from which I acquired a small, round weight. The weight (which can be seen in photos above) had holes in it which allowed me to work with it.

The Helping Hand Base was designed around this weight to aid with any soldering activities without tipping over. It should also be noted that my specific weight is not required; ball bearings, another weight alternative, or no weight at all can also be used.

The hands themselves can be bought and motified from coolant conduit, or printed. Examples that can be used:
