Summary

This is a 3D model of a helmet, part of a suit of armour, from the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. The armour, made of steel, was forged in Italy in the 1500s by an unknown creator.

A central fin (comb) runs across the top of the helmet from front to back. Across the front are eye slits and below this is a hinged visor. A chin guard and laminated gorget plates are arranged around the neck. A leather strap runs under chin. The helmet has been decorated with incised diagonal lines along tip of fin and with brass flower shaped studs around base of neck at back.
