The file 'Helium Balloon Carousel For Lego Minifigs 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 6.1MB.
Inspired by the book 21 Balloons, this is my take on catching the summer breeze and make it float combined in one.
Imagine you step aboard a small boat surrounded by five other boats. You look up and giant hot air balloons are gently tower over above. You begin to rise slowly, spinning about the center column. Eventually you are freed from the guide and soaring through the air slowly continuing to spin as the wind carriers you. After a awhile you glide back down to the earth as air is released from the balloons and your boat gently settles down in the clear water below you.
This model was created to demonstrate the properties and concepts presented by the fantastical design in the book. In place of hot air balloons, I used helium balloons. One 12" helium balloon has the approx lift of 5 to 8 grams. One major constraint was creating a vehicle light enough to achieve lift off with the minimal force generated by the balloons.
I am currently working on using tea candles as a heat source to create a hot air balloon.
To make you will need:
1 Bolt.stl
1 Nut.stl
6 support.stl
6 boat.stl
All parts printed at 2% infill......( gotta conserve weight)
8 12" Helium filled balloons
Use super glue to attach the supports to the holes in the nut. Slide the boats onto the support. Tie the balloon ribbons to the support structures. Ground the carousel using the bolt.
Have fun and don't let your new creation float away.
Cheers
