The Heavy Weapons Mech Attack Specification was designed to destroy as many enemies as possible. Armed with a quad missile launcher and a large cannon on its back and a gatling gun arm this mech is a 1 mech army, a force to be reckoned with.
Hello again! This last semester of college was really tough, so I'm really glad to have the time to design more mechs again. Apologies for the poor image quality, I was trying to use up this black plastic I don't really like (warps a little too easily for my liking) and it's glossy finish makes it not appear well on my camera.
My main goal when designing this mech was to test my new knee and elbow armor design that I came up with when looking at pictures of club sandwiches (kind of embarrassed how I didn't think of it sooner). I had to modify the joints a little bit to accommodate the knee and elbow pads, but I also find it makes the elbows and knees more stable in the end.
My second goal was to design skirt armor like you see on many mechs in media (Gundam, for example). The way I designed it here requires the hip pegs to have to be plugged into the waist, but luckily it doesn't seem to really affect the stability of the hips.
My third goal with this mech was to design a giant gatling gun arm. Some of my favorite mech designs (or mech adjacent) have gatling guns for arms (Halo Protoype armor, HeavyArms Gundam, Megaman NT Warrior Vulcan battle chip, etc) and I wanted to partake in that tradition!
The Heavy Weapons Mech (Guard Spec) was designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and ease of printing.
Joints are achieved through a system of 3mm pins that give just enough friction while also easily removed with pliers (for maximum strength, print these so that the long side of the pin is parallel to the build plate).
3 millimeter ports on the arms and back allow for cross compatibility with most other model kit accessories.
I hope you enjoy. Please send feedback as I may create improved versions of the figure in the future.
Depending on your printer and plastic, some light sanding and/or tightening of parts may be required. Tightening may be done via thin layers of super glue or multi-surface floor polish.
