I have 3 kids, the all plastic flexible style locks do not hold up and our 1 year old can open them easily. As well none of the locks I can find accommodate our cabinets/drawers well. They don't have the screw holes in the right spots or not enough double sided adhesive grabs.
I made the mounting plate large so you could try some double sided 3m sticky tape; it would probably work OK. I haven't tested it, I believe screws are the way to go.
