Heart Containers increase Link's Life Gauge, which is represented by a set of Hearts in most games of The Legend of Zelda series except The Adventure of Link, where his health is symbolized by a life bar. Collecting a number of Pieces of Heart, precisely four in most appearances, assembles a Heart Container. Regardless, when Link obtains a Heart Container, his maximum health is increased by one unit.
