Summary

A handy strainer for pouring out the water after cooking pasta, rice or vegetables. Easy to just rinse after use, keep on a hook near the kitchen sink.

It comes in three different sizes:

  • a small version for pots up to a diameter of 18.7 cm (7.3")
  • a bigger one for pots up to 23 cm (9.1")
  • a huge* one for pots up to 26 cm (10.2")

(* "huge" meaning as big you get on a 25 x 21 cm build plate...)

Total length of the models is 273 / 284 mm, so they won't fit very small build plates. Fits the Prusa Mk2/Mk3 (25x21cm) when rotated diagonally.

This must be printed with a material that can take heat. I used PC (polycarbonate) for this, other alternatives could be ColorFabb HT, or some of the high-temp PLA filaments that can be annealed in the oven after printing. ABS should work as well, but that might not be food safe. 100% infill is also important for hygienic reasons.

When slicing the smaller version, think about the orientation of the longer handle and mirror the model if you would rather have it on the other side.

Please post a Make if you make this!

UPDATE: User cnetic made this with ordinary PLA, and apparently it works ok. Most likely even PLA won't deform during the short time it takes for the water to pass through. So, if you don't have any fancy heat resistant filament handy, you might be ok with just PLA. Cnetic's make: https://www.thingiverse.com/make:456817 Thanks cnetic for the report!
