Summary

To easily remove hotend clogs from above in your direct drive printer get yourself steel rods like these and print the handle and dock above. Put the rod through the handle hole after dipping it in superglue. Sharpening the tip at a 45º angle should make it even more effective. To use, heat the hotend to 220-230C, pull on the extruder tensioner lever, and push the sharp end of the rod through until all the filament inside the hotend squirts through. To keep molten plastic from sticking to the rod, dip the sharp end in a little olive oil prior to each use. Inside the hot nozzle the oil will season all metal surfaces making them nonstick.
