Edit: i used 5 % rechtilinear infill. just wanted to correct the 10% which i wrote because i just realised 5% rechtilinear infill lets more light through and makes the infill less visible i would also suggest maybe trying 2 walls/perimiters instead of 4 if u want to use a weak light source. i havent tried this yet so i dont know how it comes out.
pls post a make if u make one with what settings u printed it with to help others decide how they want to print it.
if using no supports there will be slight stringing directly under the lithophane which i dont see as a problem because it takes 1-2min to get cleaned up
Update V2: the first layer is now flat ;)
Here is a Halloween Litho i created.
The 3 wise skulls and the Litho are my own stls which i made the rest are Things i downloaded from Thingiverese.
I used meshmixer to join all stls together.
i then fixed the file in Netfabb
NO SUPPORTS NEEDED at 0.1mm layer height
This file prints quite well without supports even that hat prints without supports.
WARNING printing this at 0.2mm layer height might cause the hats to not print correct, its a very steep angle and hasnt been tested at 0.2mm
i used 4 walls/perimiters to take sure the litho was almost full maybe it also looks great with less walls but i havent tested it yet
print time ca 40 hours with 0.1mm layer height 5% infill retilinear and 4 walls
filament usage: ca 400g. It can take much longer as 40hours if printing slower
