The file 'Guardians Of The Galaxy / Star Lord Infinity Orb Electromagnet Display Base 3D Printer Model' is (STL) file type, size is 326.2KB.
THIS HAS BEEN REDESIGNED TO BE MORE SCREEN ACCURATE: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:547100 I'm leaving this design up in case anyone still wants to use it, but recent images from the Guardians of the Galaxy DVD have indicated that the base the orb rests on is not a solid, triangular piece, but instead a three prong design.
A display base meant to resemble the electromagnet Star Lord uses in the GOTG movie to capture the Infinity Orb. Basically intended to keep my own Infinity Orb from rolling off a shelf, and looking good as a display piece. :)
This was designed to fit the exceptional Infinity Orb that Thingiverse user tonyyoungblood (http://www.thingiverse.com/tonyyoungblood) has made available, which you can find here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:430184
Assembly should be pretty straightforward. The hinged flaps print in halves and should be glued back-to-back until you have one solid piece. Then seat the hinges on the flaps in the recesses on the central part, and sandwich the top and bottom of the middle halves closed. Glue it in that position, then pop the end caps into the open holes on the ends. If you've done everything right, the piece should still be able to hinge open and closed!
