Make a simple catch latch for a shed or greenhouse door using this thing, a golf ball, and some wood screws. Here's a video from Pocket83 showing how to do the same thing with PVC pipe.
The first version of the latch uses the same inner diameter as PVC pipe - 1.5". The second version uses a larger inner diameter - 1.68" to match a standard golf ball's outer diameter.
