After completing my first fish puzzle (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:227995) my students looked at it and were unimpressed. They told me that I could do better, and I agreed.
So the next day I visited my wife's classroom and she had a goldfish sitting on her desk that looked to be made out of pieces of cardboard. I took some pictures of it and then went home and tried to create something similar. After almost two whole days of design as well as several failed printing attempts, I believe I came up with a pretty good result.
This goldfish looks great sitting on a bookshelf and can also be hung up by a string through the hole in its top fin.
I was also inspired by HeavyRoation's 3D puzzles which include this design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:99250) and is also one of my favorite things that I 3D printed.
