Summary

This is part of the enemy token series: Goblins, imps, etc.

The token can be flipped on the other side when the goblin is below a certain HP (e.g. 50%) to give a rough idea to the players about how much damage the creature can still take without revealing its exact HP. It also helps to better visualize the combat if for example, some NPCs need help or if they appear to be able to hold the line.

Update: Elite Token
Elites (denoted by the skull and stars) are not regular units; they are either bigger than normal (for low intelligence creatures such as a slime), much more numerous (for swarms) or more experienced/higher level. It can also denote whoever appears to be in command of the group (if applicable). As always, this can work both ways, facing an elite enemy can be a challenge, but getting reinforced by an elite troop can show the PCs that things may be escalating.
