This is a direct drive Chimera extruder mount for the gMax printer from gCreate. It routes the x-axis belt through the x-axis v-slot extrusion to hide and protect the belt. The design also reduces the pulling causing twist on the ends of the x-axis caused from belt tension.
The horizontally mounted plate for the extruder reduces the z-axis footprint which provides slightly more z-height.
One thing that needs redesign is the fan shroud and fan bracket. It didn't work out and I haven't gone back to redesign it. I haven't needed to even on small parts, though -- I think airflow from the Chimera has been cooling the PLA I've been printing with.
The mount plate includes a socket for to mount an rj45 keystone for the fan, led, and thermistor wiring.
This design is a PITA to assemble, but it hasn't given me any problems once assembled.
