I made this as a separate orb for the Orb in Dragon Claw by Argasman located here:

It's a simple orb that is fully customizable in OpenSCAD with a hole in the bottom for inserting lights. Any size you want, any wall thickness you want, and spherical or geodesic shape.
The default settings work well for the Dragon Claw but you can use this to place a globe on anything you want.
