The file 'Glider Motor Pod Conversion (removable) 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 2.3MB.

Summary

This is a motor pod for adding/relocating a motor on an RC glider.
It is designed for motors with a 16 x 19 mounting pattern, and leaves clearance for a propeller up to 10".

ESC sits in the pod.

Tips:

  • I strongly suggest using heat set inserts on the mount.
  • I suggest printing with 100% infill with 1 perimeter outline, although my first prototype printed at 15% infill with 1 outline has held up.
  • Print as pictured with supports added for the pod and pod cap.

Required hardware:
(3) M2 x 6 SHCS [Pod Cap to Pod]
(4) M3 x 10 SHCS [Mid to Mount]
(4) Motor Mounting Screws (TBD)

Optional hardware:
(4) M3 Heat set inserts

Instructions:

  1. Install motor into pod and connect wires to the ESC.
  2. Route the ESC wiring down through the middle section
  3. Use CA and accelerator to fix the pod to the mid section.
  4. Thread the holes in the mount using an M3 tap (or drill out holes and install heat set inserts)

Work in progress.
