The file 'Gilbertson Cylindrical Birdhouse For Wrens / Chickadees 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 204.4KB.
This birdhouse design is largely based on the Gilbertson cylindrical bluebird house design. However, the main entrance hole has been replaced by a hole of the same size/geometry as the ventilation holes that exist in the Gilbertson design. The size of these openings permits wrens and chickadees to enter and exit the birdhouse, while rendering the birdhouse to be fairly resistant to inhabitance by house sparrows.
The structure consists of three, interlocking pieces: a top portion (roof), an cylindrical body, and a bottom portion (floor). Several fasteners are required to retain connection of the components:
4 pieces - 20 mm M3 screws
4 pieces - M3 nuts
A single screw should be placed through each of the holes within the interlocking retention tabs. The nut only requires tightening by hand (no tools), as the birdhouse will be mounted in a stationary position, where the potential for loosening of the fasteners is minimal.
The rear of the birdhouse is equipped with receptacles for mounting to a surface via protruding nail/screw heads.
The birdhouse depicted in the image was printed using HATCHBOX bronze PETG filament.
