upgraded X carriage for the I3X ( mine is a Geeetech acrylic frame version )
Saves 75% weight compared to stock ( mod V4 )
Based on Beyondwind & riansolutions (remix) design Things: 982921 & 1043124
I have included a Few significant improvements :
Printable Z height increased by 20mm ( extruder mounted higher much like stock carriage )
Cable mounting point
much much easier belt fitting
Mechanical end-stop trigger built in ( if needed )
Can use 3 or 4 LM8UU bearings or 2 LML8UU ( Mod & Mod V3 )
downside is this now needs support to print ( highly recommend using Cura 2.3 to slice & enable roof support & support everywhere, Print with endstop pointing up, rotate model 45 degrees clockwise on bed )
Update 26/10/16
modV3 alows for extruder motor to be mounted 15mm further towards the front of the machine if desired , this will allow the extruder motor to clear the X idler giving edge to edge print volume (215 mm on X axis ) , if motor is mounted in the forward position it will also allow more clearance for larger hotends.
modV4 includes all features of modV3 but only allows the use of 3 LM8UU bearings , uses 5 meters less filament and looks a bit smoother, makes for a very light setup ( 77g with 3 X LM8UU bearings , stock is 300g)
