Maybe you're old, hands too big, or the control scheme just doesn't situate ..
Well.. you can experiment with my latest gamepad-style gaming grips!
This is a hybrid style between Playstation and Gamecube which I feel works quite well for the wide body and weight of the 3dsXL.
Takes very little plastic.. quick to print! You' only need 4 small screws, I used M3x6.
Screen angle for 3d is perfect with no funny "ghosting" & you can just let your hands relax and hold your 3ds like a modern console controller.
Most 'things' unimpeded, holes for pretty much everything else (stylus, volume fader, bumpered cartridge slot, IR, DC, accessory mounting holes, headphone port)
..it doesn't close 100%, but very nearly..more than far enough to go into sleep mode.
I also threw on an earbud cord organizer to keep things tidy up front.

(UPDATED_3ds_right_grip_v2.3): v2.3 I've added a small hole on the right grip for the wireless on/off toggle switch.
The old version without the hole, v2.2, will remain available.
