Summary

Parametric model for a travel holder for the Framework expansion cards.

Four parameters can be changed (in the "Parameters" Group):

  1. Expansion Card Side Clearance (Default/STL value: 0.25 mm): depends on your material and printer - the width of the modules was measured at 30.0mm, this clearance adds further space on each side, to prevent excessive friction during insert/removal.
  2. Insert Overhang Depth (Default/STL value: 3.00 mm): the Framework expansion cards have a small section that is fully inserted into the laptop. My design uses that section for further fastness when the expansion cards are inserted. I measured this section at 3.35mm in depth, and the overall module depth at 31.90mm. However, for ease of removal (I slightly damaged one of my adapters on my first print because the dimensions were too tight, and it was almost impossible to remove the expansion cards from the carrier), the "insert overhang" is only of 3.00mm, so that 0.35mm are clear even when fully inserted (to put a fingernail or something in case the dimensions are too tight).
  3. Text Inset Depth (Default/STL value: 0.50 mm): The depth at which the text is "etched" into the top of the carrier/holder. Depends on print slicer, material, printer, etc. Too little and it is ignored, too much and it will be ugly. I set it at 0.50mm by default (0.10mm was too little) but I haven't tried it at this depth. Feel free to change that setting to whatever you think makes most sense.
  4. USBConnector Depth (Default/STL value: 7.50 mm): The depth of the USB C connector. I measured it at 7.20mm, but I set it to 7.50mm for extra clearance.
