Summary

Hey Loopers!
Looking for loot? Here, have this large ammo box. This should keep you equipped for the next encounter.

I guess you already know what this is: The Large Ammo Box from Fortnite.Print it and store all your V-Bucks in it. Or small shield potions. Or something else.It is quite large (180x60x130mm) but it still fits the build space of a 180mm³ printer.. Just to be clear - this is not a game rip. I designed the box according to some screenshot I took in the game. The box in the game does not have a lock because it is just an object in a game. So I designed a working lock that keeps the box shut.To print this box you do not need a MMU or AMS though this has some advantages like printing the support interface with a different material. Every part can be printed seperately and needs to be assembled afterwards. But don't worry, assembly only takes 5 minutes.

Print preparation:Make sure that your print bed is clean and grease-free and use a quality brand filament. Now, this is important: Dry your filament! If the print result is too brittle your filament might be wet.

Print settings:Use the 0.2mm Standard settings but lower the outer wall and top surface speed to 160mm/s. This will give you a better print quality. Three walls, five tops, four bottom walls and 12% gyroid infill will be fine. You will need support for the following parts:

  • Lid (normal / snug)
  • Body (normal / snug)
  • Lock2 (tree / default)

For more details look at my 3mf print profile (Bambu Studio / Orca Slicer). The print profile is for large printers but all parts are designed to match a 180mm³ build space. You can use my profile for a small printer but you have to relocate some parts. If you have a MMU or AMS I recommend that you print all parts in PLA and use PETG for the support interface. Then you can easily remove the support and have a nice surface finish

Assembly instructions:

  • Clean and deburr all parts. If necessary sand the holes for all hinges.

  • Clip-on the side handles.

  • Snap the lever (lock1) to the clasp (lock2) - it is a tight fit, but it should work without breaking something.

  • Snap the assembled clasp to the body - again: it is a tight fit, but it should work without breaking something.

  • Glue the four yellow inlays to the lid.

  • Assemble the handle hinges and add a tiny drip of glue to the pin-cover.

  • This is a bit fiddly: Assemble the top handle hinges to the lid. Use needle-nose pliers to insert the hinge-pins from the inside of the lid. You need four pins for two hinges.

  • Slide the top handle onto the hinges. Use a tiny bit of glue to secure the handle.

  • Push the lid into the gap of the black hinge plate. The gap is quite large so you may need to use some glue to make the lid stay on the hinge plate.

  • Now it is time to attach the assembled lid to the body. Again: this is a bit fiddly... Use needle-nose pliers to insert the hinge-pins from the inside of the body. It is tight, but it will fit. You need two hinge-pins for this.

The lousy editor on this platform does not allow me to propoerly show some pictures for assembly. So please take a look at my description on printables:

That's it, you have just printed & assembled your own Fortnite Large Ammo Box!

So far I successfully made a lot of partial test prints and two complete boxes. But of course I cannot test every filament, every setting and every printer. If you print this box please give me some feedback if the print profiles and the assembly is ok for you. Maybe there is a flaw that I have not seen yet. I am always open to optimze my design or print profiles.
