Summary

This is a key fob card I made for my ford key fob. To start, I procured a knockoff fob from AliExpress:

Then I programmed it to the vehicle following Ford's procedure in the owner's manual. Once programmed, I harvested the PCB:

  1. I removed the buttons from the PCB (to make slimmer and prevent accidental presses)
  2. I removed the battery contacts on the back of the PCB
  3. I soldered a 2032 battery cell (2032 is slightly smaller, and more importantly slimmer than the standard 2450 battery used in the fob. It won't last quite as long, but it keeps the card slim enough to fit into a wallet at 3.1mm) to the contacts previously used for the battery contacts.

Then print your fob card top and bottom and place your PCB with soldered battery in the case. It should just snap together.
