Summary

Here is my report on 3D printing safely for animal welfare: https://awionline.org/3d-printing-animal-welfare Please read if you intend to use 3D printing with your pet.

This is a foraging hopper that turns the bars of a cage into a puzzle feeder. I have used paper doo-dads (coin wrappers, paper crinkles, cardboard packing peanut alternatives), mixed with edibles (Nutriberries, millet sprigs). The clip version will lock into collapsible "Chinese" style wire breeder cages used for weaning baby birds or keeping of very small species

I use this with powder-coated wire, PVC coated wire or stainless steel. I try not to encourage animals to put their mouths on uncoated zinc or iron wire, where they might ingest unsafe amounts of metal.

One model hangs from tiny arms and can be pushed off the cage by the animals pretty easily. The other models have a little clip to hold it against the bars.

I will take favorite treats and put them at the top of the hopper, where they can be seen but not reached. The animals then go nuts pulling out the other stuff to get the goodie to the bottom where they can get at it!

The first two hoppers are spaced for 1 inch wide square mesh, with 1/8" wide wire.
The last model is made for thin Metric wire, as shown with the cockatoo and conure photos above.

PRINTING
In the gallery, I show a photo of how to align the print so it needs no support material!
