The lack of a foot rest is really the only issue with the well-known IKEA ANTILOP baby high chair. We found several ideas online on how to add a foot rest, but none that satisfied us, so I designed this part.
You need to print the left and right part, and then you'll need a piece of plastic or wood for the actual foot rest. I used a section of cable duct I had left over from another project. I cut it to 37 cm, which allows a placement up to about 46 cm from the floor. (Note that these measures are for the older version of the chair, ours says (C) 2004.) I drilled holes for the screws 1 cm from the edges, and I glued the screws to the plastic with Araldit (epoxy glue). Thanks to the long holes in the supporting parts, we'll be able to lower the foot rest as the baby grows. I used four M4x30 screws for the assembly.
All settings are parametric, including the angles and diameter of the feet, so you should be able to generate parts for other chairs too. Leave a comment here if you need assistance, as the OpenSCAD file doesn't contain much documentation...
There are several files in the Downloads section. The first version I published is kept for reference (antilop_footrest.scad
, antilop_footrest_l.stl
and antilop_footrest_r.stl
). But in the meanwhile I've improved the part mainly to reinforce it. Following comments from other users I also added measurements for the more recent version of the chair. If you have the new one (with "wider" legs) you should print antilop_footrest_v3_New_Chair_[LR].stl
, if you have the old version like me you should use antilop_footrest_v3_Old_Chair_[LR].stl
.
