The file 'Folding Chess Board 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 620.4KB.
Every chess board I saw that was supposed to be more printable also was small in terms of play space so I thought to make a 40mm tile board into quadrants and hinge them together.
You'll want 6 hinges (I printed 8 so there's a backup in case one breaks)
2 single hinge quadrants
2 double hinged quadrants
I recommend putting the 2 double hinged ones together first, you may find a better method but I found it easiest to put the corner of a hinge into the corner of its spot and turn gently to get it to seat properly.
After that, just fold the single hinge sides to the double hinged sides and fold those back onto themselves to collapse the board.
