Summary

Lightweight cage carriage for flying bear ghost 5 with orbiter v2

  • Monocoque design reduces parasitic vibrations
  • Does not reduce the working area in X and Y, and increases in Z by 6mm.
  • Maximizes the use of stock carriage parts
  • Allows you to install e3dv6 hotend (x-carriage-v1.stl) or stock fb5 honend (x-carriage-stock-fb5-hotend-v1.stl).
  • Allows you to reduce the weight by more than 100 grams compared to the stock one
  • Optimal X strap mounting location
  • 180 degree inverted 5015 snail does not suck hot air from the table and cools the carriage optical sensor.
  • Quieter travel
  • Compatible with cable chain https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3715002

After installing this cartridge the resonance amplitudes decreased by 3 times. I raised cruising print speeds to 160mm/sec, accelerations to 4000. For the test I printed at 200/7000, I didn't notice any problems, but I don't put such speed in everyday use on the bear yet

Update v1 ( New carriage version added Red-Mad-Goose-v1-e3dv6.stl )

  • Converted the linear bearings from PETG stubs to PTFE tube bores, which greatly improves sliding and reduces backlash
  • Moved the chain attachment point to the right to improve stability at high accelerations (>5k)
  • Added a mount for the adxl345 accelerometer
  • Added mount for BLTouch
  • Added a hole for cable entry
  • Added a support that clearly secures the bottom of the heatsink to reduce hotend wobble at high accelerations (>5k)
  • The carriage now has a “Red Mad Goose” name :)
