Summary

After a few years in operation, my Vaillant EcoLevel condensate pump broke down (no more pumping function).
The sensor system for the pump control is based on Hall elements. A float with integrated magnets moves up and down on a guide rod depending on the fill level and provides the electronics with the information about the level.
As the condensate pump always has to deal with warm condensate from the heating system, the magnet in the original float loses its magnetism after a while. As a result, the sensor system also fails and the condensate is no longer pumped out. The original float is a moulded plastic part, which can no longer tightly sealed after opening.

Simply replacing the magnet in the original part is therefore not practical.
That's why I designed the replacement part.

BOM

1x printed part “float_Vaillant_top_V2”
1x printed part “float_Vaillant_bottom_V2”
1x Neodym magnet 8x4mm (N38 or better)
2-component Adhesive (temp resistance recommended, I use Marston-Domsel MD2000)

Assembly

  • Glue the magnet into the recess provided, observe polarity (test it)! Hall sensors in the EcoLevel are unipolar.
  • Glue top and bottom part together
  • Make sure that all adhesive surfaces are covered with glue, including the round part in the centre of the float; water must not penetrate the float later on
