I designed this little box for my headphones. I was searching for a way to keep them safe inside my backpack, when I'm not using them. The box had to be reliable and easy to handle. At first I thought about using some kind of film hinge to keep the top in place while the box is open but in PLA this wouldn't last very long. So I came up with the idea of a rotating tray inside of a shell.
To open it you can hold the case in one hand and push the corner with your thumb inside, then the tray rotates out. Simply wrap your headphone cord around two fingers and the loop has the perfect size to fit into the box.
Note: Unlike the version of the pictures the newer version of the tray has a little overhang to keep the cable from beeing jammed while closing the case.
Update (15-03-2020): I uploaded a new version of the shell. The pin wich holds the case closed is slightly bigger, so it should snap in a little better and really hold the case closed. The diameter of the center pins is 0.1 mm smaller, too.
Update (08-03-2020): Uploaded an alternative version of the tray with a smaller bevel on the edge.
