My dad wanted a new phone stand that could sit on the stand for his monitor, hold his phone in either rotation, and not block his view of his monitor (when his phone is in portrait mode). I whipped this up in Inventor. He uses a piece of raw iron ore as a weight to keep it where it is, but you could use anything vaguely heavy.
