I set myself the design brief of utilising the lip on my fish tank for seedling germination during the winter months. There's plenty of light, warmth and humidity.
These small pots are open bottomed allowing for the easier extraction of the seedlings once germinated. The excess water drains in to the trough but no further. I would advise printing in ABS but I have printed in PLA with significant success!
The trough itself has arms designed to latch on to 6mm glass/ perspex to try to prevent accidentally knocking them in to the open tank. There is also a slightly larger lip on the front (fishtank facing side) to help prevent individual pots also being knocked in.
I have mostly used these to germinate cactus and succulent plants. If you have success with any others then please let me know in the comments below.
Feel free to ask suggestions/ suggest design improvements.
