Summary

In designing my recent drybox upload https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6415741, I found the available filament guides to be less than perfect. The wider guides allowed the filament to wander as it entered the fitting, sometimes causing the filament to scrape against the sharp edge of the brass opening.

I designed a guide from scratch, using a more complex torus in Blender; one that I could modify in any aspect. The resulting 'donut' was then stretched and manipulated until I found a perfect fit to guide the filament from any direction without even touching the brass! Tinkering with the distance between the donut and the fitting brought the design to completion. M6 threads were cut into the model for instant attachment.

I also found that other designs that were pre-threaded were sometimes hard to thread. So I modified mine to have a slightly tapered wider opening for the fitting. No matter how you print this one, the fitting should go in easily without post processing. I'm loving it!

It's set up to print on the flat edge so as to avoid the need for supports.
