Summary

Intro

I do own a garage with a flat roof. In order to protect the roof from UV light coarse gravel has been put on top. The gravel shall not congest the drain, hence I designed a small fence.

Printing

Printed in PETG with 3 perimeters. Printed in white as the fence is exposed to heat especially on the garage roof during summer time.

OpenSCAD

The OpenSCAD file has been provided. Please note that rendering takes a hugh amount of time. I didn't measure, I guess it was at least 30 min. Please let me know if you know a good way to round a tube. My solution to use extrude is very time consuming.

Disclaimer

Please use at your own risk. The fence has just (August 2022) been installed on the roof. I have no experience if

a) the fence will allow enough rain to pass through the holes under heavy rain conditions

b) the fence is strong enough to gravel away from the drain

c) the fence lifts after some rain because it is printed with 20% infill. This might lead to gravel falling into the drain and congesting it

d) the PETG will melt in very hot summer scenarios
