This is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it prop from the background of the new Fallout TV series. I'm not sure why, but it stood out to me, and I needed to make it.
An inspired replica of a Zenith Royal 500 Transistor radio circa 1956, it fits nicely into the retrofuturistic vibe of Fallout. The model, like its real-life counterpart, is a clamshell design. However, it is fitted with added Fallout-inspired vents at the back for inside illumination, perfect for enhancing your shelf decor.
The model is designed with space inside for electronics and a 30mm speaker. Additionally, it includes mounting points for a Pi Pico (W). Along with this, it requires a 4xAA battery box fitted in the back under the lid (if you want to power anything), a 16mm potentiometer with switch for adjusting the volume (with a 6mm shaft), and a 6-way Rotary switch (with a 6mm Shaft) or something similar for the channel selector.
Note: You can use the "M6 Bushing" and two 20mm M6 bolts instead for a static model.
You'll also need 4xM3 30mm CS screws, 2xM3 12mm CS screws and 3xM2 6mm CS screws.
The model is still waiting for an electronics design, but with a Pi Pico W, streaming could be a potential enhancement.
Providing you the opportunity to bring alive the Fallout universe, this 3D model, with added electronics, can potentially play MP3s from the show. While adding a touch of Fallout-inspired style to your space, it also poses as a fun challenge for all tech enthusiasts inclined to try their hands at integrating electronics into 3D models. Grab the 3D model from thangs.com and dive into a fantastic blend of cosplay and DIY electronics project!
