This OpenSCAD library is yet another gear generator. A special feature of this library is that it creates gear tooth paths of arbitrary precision, interpolated between exactly-specified critical points.
The most common spur gear is created by mapping a triangle wave to a circle. These resultant mapped curves are also called involute curves. The spur gear can be converted into a herringbone gear by applying a balanced absolute value rotation to copies of the gear along the Z axis.
An example planetary gear set, featuring herringbone "inner" and "outer" gears is provided to demonstrate the power of a path-based gear generator.
