I REALLY like the Simple Twist Open Mushroom found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5879312 but after printing about a dozen of these on my ERCF I found that there was a couple of imperfections since the model's parts were designed to be printed separately and assembled.
The main problem is each dot has a smaller artifact dot in the middle of it from the internal alignment bump used for assembly. I used acetone smoothing on my ABS mushrooms and they turned out great but the artifact is distracting. Secondly, because the parts are actually separated in the original model, there's a small gap between the different colored extrusions. This causes some gaps in the resulting print.
I used Blender's boolean logic to take the mushroom cap and create larger dot intrusions so that they extend all the way into the threading. This should:
Once printed in ABS, the acetone bath process is highly recommended as it will make the part look like a custom toy that was not printed on a 3D printer.
To use this in PrusaSlicer or SuperSlicer:
split->to parts
option and it will separate the object into all piecesMushroom_Top_-_Improved.stl | 7.0MB |
