Summary

These are Epcot Mickey Ears initially designed by Homer83109.

UPDATE 11/18/2024: This remix is being redesigned again for a whole new style of lighting and assembly. Instead of fairy lights, I am experimenting with smart lights. This requires a whole new housing design which is larger. So that's being redesigned. In addition to that I'm redesigning all of the parts that attach to each other to screw together rather than needing to be glued at all. The only parts that should require glue will be the Epcot sign and the Monorail mounting. The ears will screw together, the housing will snap.clip/screw together (still being worked on) and the ears and housing will all screw onto the headband. When it's finished (Possibly in the next week or so) I'll provide all of the new files as V3 STLs along with a video of the way the lights will work and assembly instructions.

I would have had a pair in Epcot on Oct 30, but during assembly, drilling holes to use screws because the gorilla glue wasn't holding, I severed the wires in one of the ears. This was what led me to redesign for screw assembly from the start, including holes for the screws. No chance of damaging the wires with this design.

UPDATE 05/20/2023: Updated the Center 1 model for better fitting of Center 2, updated the headband for better nubs. Still may need to adjust those more.

Per Homer83109:
"Some parts were taken from other creators like the monorail pieces."

Changes I have made take into account the changes to Spaceship Earth made prior to WDW's 50th Anniversary, notably the lighting in the corners of the panels. I have modified the ear files to allow for internal wiring with fairy lights to be added into the ears, with holes at the corresponding junctions to simulate the same lighting that is built into Spaceship Earth.

The wires fit into channels created inside each ear, and I have designed a controller housing for the excess wiring and the controller to fit into for hiding the wiring and making it so you just reach up and press a button to activate the lights.

The monorail was originally designed to be on a wire that connects into a hole in the left ear, but after experimentation with it this never really seemed to work well, so I modified the left ear to have a larger space for wiring to fit in, and since the Monorail has a channel running inside its length for the wire, I run the wiring fully through the monorail, bending it underneath it on each end, and running both sides of the wire into the space on the top of the ear, gluing it in place and then gluing the ear halves together. The result is a Monorail that floats above the ear, parallel with the top of the ear and very difficult to lose or pop free. I recommend printing the monorail at 100% infill.

The sign can be added into the right ear from a slit between the ears. The sign is based on the one that was on the Epcot Ball from 2001 to 2007. The sign was modified to add in open area below the lettering to make it look a little more natural.

There is a headband file attached if needed and the original headband file turned out to be really too thin, and included no "teeth" that might help the heandband stay in place. I redesigned the headband to make it nearly 3 times thicker, which provided much better head grip and rigidity, and I also added rounded "teeth" to the interior to help it grab in the hair. You may find them too long, but they can be filed down if needed. Future revisions will likely shrink them a little.

The controller housing sits in the top center of the headband, and includes holes where the excess ligts can shine through inside the housing, but you could also cover the controller housing with a bow if desired.
