Summary

My first serious post here on thingiverse, as well as the first time I model something from scratch :) I marked this as a remix from pascalmakes pen holder, even if I just needed the support that attaches to the fan. However, huge thanks to him for making such a great design!

So, this thing turns your ender 3 into a CNC 3-axis cutter: it is able to easily cut vinyl, paper and cardboard. I thought this would be a super cool mod because basically it allows you to make your own stickers at home, basically for free.

Here you will also find a comprehensive guide about getting everything ready for your first usage, to save you a couple of hours wondering in internet in search of tutorials. I tried to be as much precise as possible but maybe I did some errors or I omitted something. In this case just let me know and I will correct.
So... keep reading! :)

UPDATE - 9/2/2020
I now experimented quite few times on cutting vinyl stickers and I figured out some things you might do to enhance your experience:

  1. cut on a rigid surface; an acrylic square slab is fine, you can cut it to size in order to match your printer hotbed
  2. Glue the media onto the acrylic plate with repositionable spray glue. It won't damage the back of your vinyl sheet and it holds everything perfectly flat, without making wrinkles
  3. the cutting tip should not stick out from the black "cap" more than a half the thickness of a credit card. To check out if the blade is exposed properly, you should be able to rub your finger on the hole and barely feel it!
