Summary

A quick and cheap way to improve stiffness of your Ender 3 v3 SE portal. A rigid portal gives less wobbling on a model surface and allows you to increase speed and accellerations especially if you moved to Klipper.
If you don't have equipment or prefer not to drill the portal you can glue both surfaces. But fixing it with screws obviously gives a better result.

To assemple you will need:

  • Printed model
  • 2 x M3 screws (12 and 14mm) and 1 x M3 nut
  • doublesided adhesive, thermal glue, epoxy - up to you.
  • 3mm drill to make a hole in portal

How to make:

  1. Print a model
  2. make sure its surfaces are flat and there are no print artifacts
  3. remove right screw on the portal
  4. tightteen a triangle thru a lower hole.
  5. use upper hole on a triangle to mark a place for a second hole
  6. unscrew triangle
  7. drill the hole
  8. degrease surfaces and apply adheasive, glue or whatever you have
  9. setup the triangle moving from top
  10. tighteen screws (12mm on top and 14mm lower one)
Please pay attention that your screwdriver should be narrow and long enough to get to the lower screw. I made a cutout in a model to make access easier but it is still a bit challenging ;)

All set =)

Cheers!
