Summary

This spool holder mount fits cleanly on the 40x40 extrusion bottom rail of the Ender 3 (and any other printer that uses standard 40x40 aluminium extrusion).

The 30 degree version gives the spool more clearance to the printer frame but requires that the printer be right at the edge of the table as the spool hangs down beyond the table top. The 45 degree version gives plenty of clearance to the table top but is tighter to the printer side.

You will need two M5x10 12 mm bolts (M10x8 may also work) and two M5 nuts for installation in addition to the two M5x8 mm bolts and T-nuts that are already included with the printer. Use the original M10x8 mm bolts to attach the metal bar to the printed mount and the new M5x10 mm bolts to attach the plastic mount to the printer frame using T-nuts.

Note: I originally called for M5x12 mm bolts - these are too long and make contact with the inner surface of the printer frame extrusion. It still holds firm but it leaves marks on the inside of the frame extrusion and leaves a small gap between the printed mount and the frame allowing it to wiggle a bit.
