Summary

I had wanted a full front facade for my 1st Gen Ender 3, similar to the one created by Ledfoot42 but could not print anything that large as one piece. I also wanted something more than a square hole for the SD Card adapter. There is a matching Right Module with drawer and Center Module with switch, to fill the gap. There is room behind the Left Module for a right angle Micro USB cable to be plugged in and routed through the bottom. I decided to add a few embellishments on this version in the form of lower front hex cutouts which can be backlit using the LED Hexlight Module parts and a matching low raised hex design on top.

My ultimate goal was to produce something with modern styling that looks like it could have been supplied with the printer by the manufacturer. I hope that you feel that this goal has been achieved.

I printed the parts as oriented in the STL files and used zig-zag support. I had some layer bond issues on the first part so on all others, I changed the extruder temp from 210 to 220 and flow rate to 105% which resulted in a much more solid structure. I still need to re-print the Left Side Module with these settings.

The new Center Module is complete and test fitted. It has a cutout to house a relocated power switch from the power supply to a recess below the Y axis at center. The module has a mounting tab to attach it to the Right Module with 2 small screws but it snaps into place from beneath rather solidly without it. The sides are recessed to match the contour of the two side Modules with a little overlap to help disguise the gap. One issue is that the use of the Center Module requires a bit of additional height from taller aftermarket or other feet.

The Hexlight Module will support three 5mm LEDs. I will leave it to you on how you prefer to wire and power them. The mount and diffuser clip together somewhat but you might want to use a drop of CA glue on each end to solidly secure them together. I printed the diffuser in Clear PLA. It CAN be used with the original Left Module but the new Left Module V2 has a floor and mounting location for it.

Also included are an optional Drawer Cage and Drawer Cover Modules. The Cage mounts at the front with 4 small screws and in the rear with a V-Slot Nut and Bolt. The Cover Module attaches to the cage with 2 small screws. Though the drawer is supported fine as is, I felt like these files might help finish off the overall aesthetic. Once I print these for myself, I thought about adding a second fan cover for balance or adding a raised hex pattern to the surface of the cover to tie it in. Let me know if this is something you might like to see.
Keep watch for more at a later date.
