Summary

Here is my take on a diagonal support system for the X/Z bridge of the Ender 3 family (and clone/compatible) printers.

This support system greatly improves the rigidity of the X/Z bridge in the forward and aft direction and will prove valuable specially on tall prints. As a bonus, it also adds 20mm of clearance from the top frame so that the Bowden tube will not get squeezed too much when printing at the higher Z position.

The supports are mounted at the back of the printer and are designed to leave adequate clearance to any of the printer’s parts throughout the printing envelope.
If one wishes to incorporate my Easy-Z system, an optional Top Left w Easy-Z Bracket is available (see the Easy-Z thing page for additional parts and details)

Also, optional Extended Filament Feed Guide is offered (uses the same 608 bearing, ring and spacers as the Easy-Z)

The diagonal support system consists of the following parts:

Printed parts:

  1. Top left bracket (or the optional combined Easy-Z bracket)
  2. Top right bracket
  3. Bottom left bracket
  4. Bottom right bracket

Hardware:

  1. 2 M8 stainless steel threaded rods 475mm
  2. 8 M8 stainless steel nuts
  3. 8 M8/16/1 stainless steel washers
  4. 8 M4/12mm dome head screws
  5. 2 M4/10 Allen head screws
  6. 10 M4 T nuts
  7. 4 m5/45 Allen head bolts
  8. 24mm piece of 8mm diameter shaft
  9. 8mm/8mm ridged clamping coupler
