Summary

Hello there! Welcome to my Thingiverse page. A couple of weeks ago I had the idea to convert my Ender 3 Pro to a CNC Machine as I needed some cut acrylic for a project and also wanted to engrave and occassionally cut wood too.

I was not able to find any guides or other people who already did this on the Internet so I decided to make my own. After I got my first prototype working, I posted on Reddit and got a huge response. Many people were interested in my Design and also wanted to try converting their printer into a CNC Machine.

This design is compatible with many creality printers where the X-Carriage is the same as on the Ender 3. For example, it could also be done with a CR-10.

I still wanted to be able to use my Ender 3 as a 3d Printer so I tried making the design as simple as possible. You can swap between using it as a 3d Printer and CNC cutter within 10 minutes. Of course, the initial installation will take longer than this but if you are patient and ready for some tinkering it can be really rewarding.

To help you with the assembly, I have created a very detailed guide, that is available in the downloadable files, with lots of pictures and easy to follow instructions. A parts list and what files you need to print are also included, as well as a quick excursion on how to use CAM (software needed for working in CNC planes, basically a slicer for CNC Machines). Luckily no modifications in the Marlin firmware are needed.

UPDATE 25/05/2021: Because I got a request to add a Dremel 4000 mount, I made one. There's only two files you need to print if you're going with the Dremel (Dremel Clamp.stl and Dremel mounting bracket.stl.). I have also added two holes for the vacuum attachment on the mounting bracket. All you need for the assembly (without the vacuum) is a Dremel of course, four threaded inserts and six M3 screws.

UPDATE: 22/05/2021: I have uploaded the complete Assembly step file now, like shown in the rendered pictures. The individual files are still available because they are easier to work with when you need to modify anything.

UPDATE 02/05/2021: I have made a mistake, the links in the pdf file were not clickable. Updated files (docx and pdf) with clickable links can be found at the top of the thing files section.
