The file 'Encircled Tree 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 496.8KB.
I found the fantastic Laser cut tree in a round frame by mistercrunch, which in turn seems to be based on Vic Vesey's drawing.
I wanted to make a 3D printed version as a Christmas gift. Converting mistercrunch's lllustrator file, intended for laser cutting a 20" diameter target, to a 3D format and successfully print it in less than half the size was practically impossible. Small branches didn't print properly, or they were so thin that they fell off from the main part when removing it from the print bed - the bottom curls were absolutely impossible to print well.
So I set out to (re)design a 3D print-friendly variant. This essentially meant manually redrawing every single line from scratch. At first, I just set out to redraw every single branch and twig thicker, but along the way I saw more and more that I wanted to change. Aside from printabiliy, I spent a lot of time to make it feel more organic.
I hope you all enjoy it. :)
